For skip hire operators
Skip hire software for operators who own their containers
Every skip is a unit with a history: where it is, who has it, how long it has been sitting on a drive and what the hire is worth. Drops, exchanges and collections logged from the cab.
Free for 7 days. No card required.
Containers behave like hire stock
A skip on a drive is an asset out on hire. Treat it as one and the awkward questions become a screen rather than a phone round.
-
A record per container
Each skip, hook bin or roll-on is its own unit with a history of where it has been and what it has earned.
-
Drops, exchanges and collections
A drop opens the hire, an exchange closes one and opens the next, a collection ends it. The chain still reads clearly months later.
-
Photos from the cab
Drivers photograph the placement and the load from the phone. Access and contamination disputes get settled with pictures rather than recollection.
-
Site details on the record
Address, access notes and the person to ring live on the customer record, not in one driver's head.
-
Deposits and damage
Hold a deposit where the site warrants it, and log damage to a container against the hire it happened on.
-
What each skip earns
Days on hire, revenue and repair spend per container, so you know whether to buy more eight-yarders or more twelves.
The fleet
Know how many skips are actually out
Most operators can tell you how many containers they own and not how many are sitting past their agreed date. Because every skip is tracked as a unit, that count is a screen instead of a morning on the phone.
- Open hires listed by age
- Containers by size, type and depot
- Overdue collections with the customer to ring
- Full movement history per unit
Honest scope
What this is not
Rent in Hand is a hire system, not a route planner or a weighbridge. It will not sequence a day's drops or produce statutory waste paperwork. It will tell you where every container is, who has it, what it is earning and what it has cost you to keep.
- No route optimisation or vehicle tracking
- No weighbridge or waste transfer notes
- Yes to fleet, hires, customers, money and photos
- REST API if you already run a routing tool
Frequently asked questions
Does it plan driver routes?
No. There is no route optimisation or vehicle tracking in the product. Drivers use the mobile app to log drops, exchanges and collections with photos, and the office sees them as they happen.
How are exchanges recorded?
An exchange is the collection of one container and the drop of another on the same site. Both movements stay in the customer's history, so a long-running job reads in order.
Can builders book a skip on our website?
Yes. The booking widget takes requests for the sizes and dates you have free, and they arrive in the same calendar as phone bookings.
Do you handle weights and tipping charges?
Not as weighbridge data. You can add the tip charge to the hire, but if you need statutory waste paperwork you will keep whatever system you use for it today.
We have trade accounts that hire weekly. Does that work?
Yes. Each account keeps its own contacts, sites, past hires and outstanding balance, so a repeat drop takes a few taps rather than a fresh set of details.
