Camping and trekking kit
Outdoor equipment rental software that counts the small parts
A tent is not one item. It is an inner, a fly, poles, pegs and a bag, and any of them can fail to come home. Rent in Hand tracks sets as sets and units as units, both ways across the counter.
Free for 7 days. No card required.
Built around sets, turnaround and long trips
The work in outdoor hire is not the booking. It is what happens in the hour before a group leaves and the evening after they return.
-
Sets that go out complete
Book a four-person tent as one line, but hold its contents as a list you go through at handover. Nothing leaves without the poles because nobody had time to look inside the bag.
-
Counted back in, not glanced at
The return is a check against the same list. Two pegs and a guy line missing gets written on the hire and settled against the deposit while the customer is still at the counter.
-
Drying and cleaning take real time
Kit that came back soaked is not kit you can hire out tonight. Put the unit on a workshop job and the calendar stops offering it until someone signs it off as dry and clean.
-
Trips that run for a fortnight
A two-week expedition and a weekend in the hills sit on the same calendar. The whole period is blocked on every unit that went out, so a long hire cannot be double-booked in the middle.
-
A history for each sleeping bag
Every unit carries its own record: how many trips it has done, what has been repaired, when it was last cleaned. That is what tells you a bag is worn out rather than just dirty.
-
Peaks booked months ahead
The widget on your site takes bank holiday reservations in February. If you hire from more than one base, each location keeps its own stock and its own availability.
Completeness
The missing peg problem
Small parts are where outdoor hire quietly loses money. A stove without its windshield, a tent short of two poles, a rucksack missing its rain cover. Each one is trivial, none is worth an argument, and by the end of the season you are rebuying half a store room.
- Contents held against the set, checked at handover and again at return
- Shortages recorded on the hire and settled against the deposit
- Photos of condition on the way out and on the way back
- Consumables and spares sold from stock rather than given away
Turnaround
The night between two hires
In summer the same kit goes out again the next morning, which means the real constraint is not availability, it is drying racks and cleaning time. If the calendar does not know about that, you will promise a tent you cannot hand over.
- Units put on a cleaning or repair job disappear from availability until closed
- Downtime is visible, so you can see what is actually blocking the fleet
- Repairs recorded against the unit, with the parts used
- Per-unit history shows which gear spends more time in the workshop than out
Frequently asked questions
Can I hire a set out as one item but still track its parts?
Yes. The customer sees one line, and you keep the contents list behind it for the handover and return checks.
How do I stop wet or unwashed kit being booked out again?
Put the unit on a job. While the job is open the unit is not offered by the calendar or the online widget, and it comes back into circulation when the job is closed.
Do long trips work differently from weekend hires?
No, they use the same booking. The full period is reserved on each unit, so a ten-day expedition and a Saturday hire cannot land on the same rucksack.
What does it cost to start?
Start is $8 per month on annual billing, Business is $20 and Pro is $35. The trial runs for seven days and does not ask for a card.
