For tool hire shops
Rental software for tool hire
Thousands of small items, dozens of hires a day and a queue at the counter. This is the part of the trade where scanning beats typing.
Free for 7 days. No card required.
Made for volume and speed
A tool shop lives on how long a handover takes and how much quietly walks out and never comes back.
-
Scan in, scan out
Barcode and QR scanning from the mobile app. Add a whole trolley to an order in one pass instead of hunting through a list for each item.
-
Every unit has a history
Two identical breakers are still two records. You can see which one has been out more, which one keeps coming back broken and who had it last.
-
Kits as one line
A mixer with its stand and hoses, or a tile saw with its blades, is booked and returned as a single set.
-
Deposits and customer records
Hold a deposit, keep documents and past hires on file, and flag the customers you would rather not serve again.
-
Consumables on the same ticket
Blades, discs, fixings and fuel are sold from the same screen as the hire, so the margin does not get left on the shelf.
-
Shifts and cash-up
Open a shift, close a shift, reconcile the till. A discrepancy shows up the same day rather than at month end.
Turnover
Ten hires an hour, none of them typed out
Tool hire is a counter business. The customer is standing in front of you, the van is on a double yellow, and every extra field is a reason to ring the shop down the road next time. Scanning the items, taking the deposit and signing the agreement is one flow, not three.
- Items scanned straight onto the order
- Contract filled from the booking and signed on screen
- Deposit and balance taken at the counter
- Return closes the hire and releases the deposit
Shrinkage
The stock you lose is quiet about it
Nothing announces that a fourth SDS drill went missing in March. It shows up as availability that never quite adds up and a Saturday where you cannot serve someone. With per-unit records, an item that has not come back is a name and a date rather than a hunch.
- Overdue hires visible by customer
- Who had a specific unit, and when
- Damage and losses on the item's own record
- Deposit deductions recorded with the reason
Frequently asked questions
Do I have to label every tool?
Not to begin with. You can work from lists, but once you are past a few hundred units scanning is what keeps the counter moving, and labels pay for themselves quickly.
Can customers book online?
Yes. The booking widget goes on your own site and shows the same live availability your staff see, so nobody has to ring to ask what is free. Bookings arrive as normal orders, ready for handover.
We hire by the half-day and over the weekend.
Rates can be hourly, daily or weekly with your own minimum periods and cut-off times. A Friday-to-Monday weekend rate behaves the way your regulars expect it to.
Can I stop staff handing out discounts?
Yes. Permissions decide who can discount, who can refund and who sees the takings, per person and per location.
Does it handle sales as well as hire?
Yes. Consumables and accessories are stocked and sold in the same system, and they can go out on the same ticket as the hire.
