Water sports hire

Boat rental software for a day cut into hourly slots

A jet ski goes out at eleven and must be back, checked and refuelled, for the twelve o'clock booking. Rent in Hand runs the day in slots and keeps the paperwork with the hire instead of on a clipboard.

What the pontoon needs on a busy afternoon

On the water the margin is measured in minutes between bookings and in what you can prove after a hire goes wrong.

  • Slots, not days

Availability is held per hull and per hour. Ten boards booked in and out four times each is a normal Sunday, and the calendar shows it as a timeline rather than a pile of day bookings.

  • When the wind turns

A cancelled morning is a rescheduling job, not a rebuild. Move the affected bookings to another window or close them out, and the hulls go straight back into availability for whoever walks up.

  • Briefing signed before launch

The safety briefing and hire terms come from your own template and are signed on the screen at the slipway. The signed copy stays attached to that hire, with the date and the person who handed it over.

  • Deposits that are worth holding

Boats carry large deposits, so the settlement has to be defensible. The deposit is recorded on the hire and closed against damage you photographed, on both sides of the trip.

  • Fuel and hours on the record

Photograph the hour meter and the fuel gauge at handover and again at return. The readings sit in that unit's history, so a disputed refuelling charge has something behind it.

  • Nothing leaves without the check

Buoyancy aids, kill cord, bung, leash. Anything that fails the check goes onto a workshop job, and while that job is open the hull is not offered to the next customer or the online widget.

Hourly turnaround

Ten hulls, forty bookings, one day

Water hire is a scheduling problem before it is anything else. Every hull is sold several times a day, each handover eats ten minutes at both ends, and one overlooked overlap means a family standing on the jetty while their kayak is half a mile out.

  • Availability by the hour on each individual hull, board or ski
  • The whole day visible in one place, so a gap can be filled with a walk-up
  • Online widget on your site showing only slots that are genuinely free
  • Staff on the water use the mobile app for handover, photos and payment

Weather and risk

The morning the forecast changes

Wind, swell or a small craft warning takes out a whole block of bookings at once, and it usually happens at seven in the morning. The customers are already in the client base with their contact details, so calling round is a list you work through rather than a search through messages.

  • Bookings moved or closed in bulk, hulls released back to availability
  • Every customer with their hire history, so regulars are easy to prioritise
  • Terms and waiver signed at the slipway, kept with the hire
  • Photos before and after each trip as the record for damage and deposits

Frequently asked questions

Can I sell the same boat several times in one day?

Yes. Bookings are held by time on each unit, so a hull can run hourly slots all day with a gap between them for checks and cleaning.

What happens on a day that is cancelled for weather?

You move the affected bookings to another slot or close them. The hulls return to availability immediately, and the customers stay in the client base with their history intact.

Can the briefing and hire terms be signed on site?

Yes. The contract is built from your own template and signed on the screen at handover, and the signed copy stays attached to that hire.

What does it cost to start?

Start is $8 per month on annual billing, Business is $20 and Pro is $35. There is a seven-day trial and no card is required.
